printable valentines

a lovely collection of free printable animal Valentine cards

If you’re anything like me, you look at the calendar on February 13th, grumble a little & then surf Pinterest for quick & easy, but cute Valentine’s cards!  This year I decided to take things into my own two little hands – EARLY – and get them finished and ready for Valentine’s Day.

I wanted something colorful, whimsical and a bit more handcrafted than the cards you frantically buy in a box at the grocery store.  But I also wanted something that was easy, quick and had a bit of character.  My sweet sister is an amazing artist.  Years ago she hand-drew and watercolored these sweet little animals for our Whimsy Kisses shop.  I thought they were just perfect for this project!

Simply print on a piece of card stock or thick matte photo paper and cut them out.  Have your kiddos (or you) fill out the “to” and “from” and voila – sweet little Valentine cards that are both unique and surprisingly frugal!  If you’re feeling extra crafty, you can punch a hole in them, add a bit of twine or ribbon & tie them to a treat like a lollipop, a cutie orange or a small toy.  Hooray!  Valentine’s Day is checked off your never ending “to do” list!

frilly florals

I am seriously a sucker for a gorgeous flower arrangement.  When I saw the bouquet created by Lace & Lilies for the Vintage Whites Market, I just swooned!  I am not near either of these lovely businesses, so I must live vicariously through facebook, blogs & pinterest.

There’s just something so beautiful and quaint about garden tea roses, larkspur, peonies and ranunculas!  Add in a vintage tin and it’s just plain over the moon for me!  I have a wonderful little spice tin collection from my sweet grandma.  I’ve thought of oodles of great projects to make with them, but popping in a lovely garden bouquet was so easy and turned out incredibly sweet.

What about you?  What are your favorite quaint businesses that you have to visit only through pictures?

Hello world!

One of my resolutions has been to get workin’ on my blog.  I have had one in existence since 2007, but have posted only a handful of things.  So here we go…  I thought I’d start by telling you a little bit about us.  I am Julie, mom to two amazingly sweet, energetic, creative, inventive boys who are now 10 and 14.  I can’t believe they are that old.  Where on earth did the time go?  I swear I was just wrapping them in snuggly blankets and the sling!  I’ve been married to my high school sweetie for 20 years (and we’ve been together nearly 24).  He’s my soul mate, and makes me a better everything.

Lompoc, California Little Girl's Pearls - meet us

I own a few little corners of the web.  I started out in 1999 with {Jules}™ and in 2002 added a shop focused on my pearls, Little Girl’s Pearls.  Then in 2004 I added a site that encompasses all of my family’s crafitness, Whimsy Kisses.  Each shop is a labor of loves and keeps our hands busy.  I’ll post more about each one as time goes by.  Designing jewelry and running my own business(es) is definitely my dream job!  I adore all of the different aspects involved in small business ownership, and it keeps me out of trouble.

So, welcome!  I’m so happy to have you here.
